Faces are usually the first thing we notice in other people. For centuries, artists have always understood their significance in people's perceptions and portraits have dominated art.
I have always liked to create faces, real or imagined. They are difficult to get right, the slightest deviation in features can alter the expression and character of the face.
This is a face that began to take shape many, many years ago. At various intervals, I have gone back to this and tried to improve. Below are pictures showing how it evolved over time.
